Following on from my visit to Foviance, i was really impressed with a new tool they have started using very recently which is called EEG. i won't try and explain it myself, as there are a number of sites which do this much better than i would do! But basically “By combining EEG techniques with the latest eye tracking, we are able to see exactly how opinions are formed and how consumers react to positive and negative outcomes,” so its the next step from the typical user testing methods usability specialists apply.  And i personally think it's very exciting! and i can see how it can be combined with the more traditional usability methods, giving a more holistic view.
